The first task was to drive the engine out from the engine shed and park it – well chocked up for safety – as seen in the photo above, ready for hind wheel removal. Note in the background the two rolls of sheet rubber wrapped in blue and white plastic coverings.

I was pleasantly surprised at how clean the engine looked and how relatively free from rust it was when I drove it out from the shed where it has been sitting since the refurbishment was completed 14 March 2025 – almost 18 months ago. Apart from superficial rust on the bare flywheel it looked fairly rust-free.

Of course many bright steel parts had been replaced with stainless steel parts including all the nuts on the cylinder. Other steel parts had been painted in chrome-effect paint.

So pleased I was that I took a few close-up pictures of the engine and present them in the gallery below.
