Trial Assembly of the Boilers, Sideplates and Smokebox

Having put the boiler in the boiler casing I mounted that assembly into the engine sideplates –  comprising hornplates and tender plus smokebox. This was to test fit and dimensions – the 1905 general arrangement drawings being a bit lacking in overall layout dimensions.

Front Plate to front of Casing 5″, Front Plate to Backhead 2 3/4″.

Bottom of Backhead to underside of Hornplates ~ 1/4″. Import to define the space available for the burner.
