Small Pressure Gauge Syphon CAD Drawings
These are CAD drawings showing how to connect the syphon pipe to the boiler pressure gauge. These are for very small pressure gauges 3/4″ to 1″ diameter where the connecting pipes are very tiny and – finnicky.
The pipe fittings themselves are drawn in CAD at full size and presented in pdf A4 format at 4 X real size. These are small pictures of the CAD drawings:-
The first is for connections using standard pipe union fittings as freely available from model engineering suppliers. The second uses a custom-made pipe connection union of 3/32″ diameter. Sometimes these are supplied with the pressure gauge.
Banjo Fitting for 5/32″ Pipe
This Banjo Fitting is intended to be used with the pressure gauge connection fittings as shown above.
The CAD drawing is for a typical ∅5/32″ pipe Banjo fitting (as used for pressure gauge syphons) for small steam pressure gauges in the range of 3/4″ to 1″ diameter.
Dimensions are based upon measurement of a commercially supplied 1/4″ threaded Banjo fitting.
Banjo Fitting for 5/32″ Pipe – Version 2 with Annulus
I received the following comment from JasonB on the Model Engineer Forum:-
“It is often better though a bit trickier to cut the cavity into the banjo. This means that the bolt is not weakened by the radial cut so less risk of snapping should it become a bit tight when you want to remove it.”
Jason also provided a nice 3D cutaway CAD sketch in his comment.
Accordingly I have prepared a Version 2 of the Banjo Fitting showing an annulus in the body instead of a grove in the stud:-
As usual, you can download the A4 CAD version by clicking on the image above.
