Making a Model Steam Plant Diorama

Part 1 – Air Running

I’ve just started making a Diorama of a Victorian Steam Engine Planroom using a Stuart Models Boiler and Steam engines made from the popular Stuart Models kits.

The boiler is the Stuart 504 model – the largest they supply – and it is based on the well known Babcock and Wilcox water tube boiler. An illustration of the real size original version from the late 1800s is shown below.

There are currently two steam engines in the Diorama, The Stuart Models Victoria and an S50, both made by myself from the Stuart Models kits. These are shown running together supplied via compressed air together with the Stuart 504 boiler in the video below.

My Comments on this Little Project to Date

Please note that this is just the first phase of what will be a long process of adding further steam plant and filling in the detail of the Diorama.

Also I’m aware that the piping is a bit untidy and also I think it’s undersized – except for the lubricators which look oversized. Most likely it will all get replaced soon.
