Model Engineering In Thailand and South East Asia

Bosch GST 25M Jigsaw Review

I was in my favourite tool and hardware shop in Pak Chong, Thailand and looking to buy a Makita jigsaw. I had my eyes on a Makita jigsaw model 4350 FCT which is a Makita top of the range model and has rave reviews.

Apart from those facts what interested me about the Makita 4350 FCT  jigsaw was the fact that it was advertised as being able to cut up to 10 mm in steel. That’s very thick for a jigsaw.

The  Makita 4350 FCT  jigsaw wasn’t available in the shop off the shelf but they could get one in two days if I ordered it. The price was 5,390 Thai Baht. (GB£107 or US$171). These prices are cheaper than I could but the jigsaw in the UK.

The guy in the shop who spoke excellent English said they had in stock a Bosch jigsaw that would cut up to 15 mm in steel. It was in stock and the cost was 5,700 Thai Baht. This Bosch jigsaw model GST 25M is specifically designed to cut metal. The “M” stands for metal.

I slept on it overnight an bought the Bosch GST 25M Jigsaw the following day. I also placed an order for the Makita 2107F Portable Bandsaw.

Here are some photos I took of the Bosch GST 25M jigsaw when I got the jigsaw home:-

And here is a Youtube video of the jigsaw in use:-

Here is a photo of a piece of 6mm (1/4″) steel that the Bosch GST 25M bandsaw has cut through easily. I can throw my hacksaw away now!
